The Instep programme by Priority One supports secondary school students across the Bay of Plenty as they begin thinking about life beyond school. By connecting students with local businesses, industries, and education providers, the programme helps them explore different study options, understand career possibilities, and develop the skills needed for future workplaces. Each year, Instep runs the Canvas Tauranga Careers Expo — a large event that brings together employers, training providers, and tertiary institutions to help students discover potential pathways. For this event, Instep wanted a physical resource students could take with them — something engaging and inspiring that would continue the conversation long after the expo ended.
We developed a fold-out brochure that highlighted a range of real career stories from people working in different fields, including creative industries, healthcare, engineering, and construction.
Rather than presenting a single idea of success, the piece focused on the many different ways careers can unfold.
By sharing these personal journeys, the brochure encourages students to see that their path doesn’t have to be linear — and that there are many ways to build a fulfilling future.
